"Of all the animals that I paint, I believe that the Kodiak Bear has been the most influential for me," says Utah artist Joe Venus. "Of all wildlife, the bear demands the most respect for it's potential ferocity and territorial claim." The size and power of this North American King of Beasts puts him in a class all his own. The Bear is a symbol of the wilderness which I hope can be preserved and will not vanish as did their ancestors from the Great Plains.
